Those were聽some of聽the thoughts that swirled through Lori聽Marsalko鈥檚聽mind聽as she jumped into action.聽
The first grade teacher at Hale Elementary was monitoring the pick-up line after school last fall when she noticed the young sibling of a student suffer a medical emergency and become unresponsive. 聽
Marsalko聽responded聽immediately聽and聽used聽her聽district CPR and readiness training.聽
By the time first responders from the arrived, the child was responsive again.聽
鈥淭hanks to her swift and skilled intervention, the child is expected to make a full recovery,鈥澛爏aid聽精东影业 Fire Department聽fire聽chief聽Bret Stidham.聽聽
Stidham and several 精东影业 firefighters visited Hale last week to聽honor聽Marsalko聽and present her with a certificate of commendation聽
鈥淭he聽精东影业 Fire Department聽commends Ms.聽Marsalko聽for her life-saving actions, knowing she was truly the right person at the right place at the right time,鈥澛燬tidham said.聽聽
Taina Northington, 精东影业 ISD鈥檚 chief communications officer, then聽presented聽Marsalko聽with the district鈥檚 Employee of the Month聽award.聽Northington praised聽Marsalko聽for聽embodying聽the district鈥檚 values and culture聽with聽her heroic actions.聽聽
鈥淚鈥檓 glad that I was there and that [this incident] has given us all the opportunity to bring training to our campus to be aware, because I believe that all of us can do this,鈥澛燤arsalko聽said.聽
